The Moisa Research Seminar will take place from 2 to 6 July 2019 in
\nBressanone\/Brixen (Italy) with the commitment of Padua University and
\nof its Department of Cultural Heritage. Following the customary
\nformat, originated in Corfu in 2004 and after five years in Riva del
\nGarda (Italy) under the auspices of the Arion Society, the programme
\nwill comprise morning sessions devoted to the study of the particular
\ntext as well as a series of evening lectures on other issues of
\ninterest.
\nIn previous years, the texts and topics examined in the morning
\nsessions have included the Pseudo-Plutarchan De Musica, Music in
\nComedy, Music and Women, Music in Plato\u2019s Laws, Aristotle\u2019s Politics,
\nAthenaeus\u2019 Deipnosophists, the Pseudo-Aristotelian Problems,
\nAristoxenus\u2019 Elementa harmonica, Aristoxenian musical handbooks and
\nMusic and Rhetoric in Dionysius of Alicarnassus.
\nIn 2019, we shall focus on Music in Pausanias\u2019 Guide to Greece,
\nlooking especially the traces of ancient music in the ten books
\nconcerning the musical regions and oral tradition. It will be the
\nfirst time that Pausanias\u2019 text is analyzed from the musicological
\nperspective.<\/p>\n

\nevening lectures, which normally start around 6 pm, provide an
\noverview of the most recent developments in the thriving field of
\nancient Greek and Roman Music, as well as a chance to improve current
\nprojects thanks to the feedback and questions of the audience.
\nBoth the morning sessions and the afternoon meetings will take place
\nin Padua University\u2019s Casa della Giovent\u00f9, near the historic city
\ncentre of Brixen

\nwhere the open exchange of ideas that is so typical of, and vital for,
\nthis Seminar will be placed.
\nRegistration and all scientific activities will take place at the
\n“Casa della Giovent\u00f9\u201d Universit\u00e0 di Padova” in Bressanone\/Brixen, via
\nRio Bianco 12. At this university campus there are classrooms, common
\nspace and a little bar in which it is possible to have breakfast and
\nsnack. The \u201cCasa della Giovent\u00f9\u201d has 48 beds (including 6 for disabled
\nstudents) in double and single rooms (35 euro per person for night for
\na bed in double room with two single beds).<\/p>\n
