14th International Symposium on the Odyssey, in Ithaca, Greece August 30 – September 3, 2020

The Centre for Odyssean Studies (http://cods.upatras.gr) is happy toannounce the _14th International Symposium on the Odyssey_ in Ithaca,Greece from August 30 to September 3, 2020 on

“HUMAN” AND “NON HUMAN”IN HOMERIC AND ARCHAIC EPICMALE, FEMALE, CHILDISH, UNHUMAN, DIVINE, ANIMAL, MONSTROUS  The Organizing Committee will welcome papers suggesting new approacheson these issues including ancient and later reception.

Time allotted to each paper: 20 minutes.
Participants are kindly requested to send the title of their paper and
an abstract of less than one page by January 31, 2019 to

Participants may give their paper in English, French or Modern Greek.
Participants who intend to give a paper in a language other than English
are kindly requested to provide an English translation or, at least, a
summary in extenso together with their presentation since there will not
be simultaneous translation.
There will not be any registration fee for participants and attendants;
in addition, the Centre will provide a bus service from Athens to the
port of Patras on August 30 for those who will travel from Athens to
Ithaca on August 30 (departure 8 am from Syntagma square). Besides, the
Centre together with the Municipality of Ithaca will make arrangements
with selected hotels in Ithaca which will offer special prices for the
participants provided they receive a specific and early booking.
Participants are therefore advised to make their own choice and their
own booking as early as possible as some hotels can offer limited
availability. Here is the preliminary list of the Hotels involved, all
located in Vathy, where the conference will take place (more information
will be available in the Centre’s site in due time, probably after
January 2020):
